Walking Football Australia
Australia's national Walking Football teams will first compete at the prestigious IWFF World Championships in Béziers, before travelling to nearby Marseille to participate in a two-day international Club Tournament, bringing together teams from across Europe and beyond. While the Marseille event is independent of the IWFF, it has quickly become one of the most anticipated festivals of Walking Football on the international calendar, providing another outstanding opportunity for high-quality competition and international camaraderie.
The WalkAroos intend to field eight national squads, comprising three Women's teams and five Men's teams, showcasing the remarkable growth of Walking Football throughout Australia and highlighting the increasing depth of talent within the national program.
Following the overwhelming success of the Brisbane 2026 IWFF World Championships, there is enormous excitement among players, officials and supporters about returning to Europe. For many, France 2027 will provide the opportunity to renew the wonderful friendships formed during Brisbane, while creating new memories through the unique spirit of Walking Football that transcends borders, cultures and languages.
The response from Australian players has been nothing short of extraordinary. As at 24 July 2026, an incredible 150 players have already submitted Expressions of Interest to join the WalkAroos France 2027 campaign. This outstanding level of interest demonstrates not only the passion for representing Australia, but also the strength and continued development of the WalkAroos program.
Over the coming months, players from every corner of Australia will participate in a structured program of state-based trials, national training camps and preparation activities. The objective is clear—to assemble eight squads of highly skilled, physically prepared and committed players who will proudly wear the green and gold and compete against the strongest Walking Football nations in the world.
Selection will be based on performance, fitness, attitude, teamwork and commitment to the WalkAroos program. Representing Australia is both a privilege and a responsibility, and every player selected will be expected to embrace the values of sportsmanship, respect, professionalism and team-first culture that have become synonymous with the WalkAroos.
France 2027 represents far more than a football tournament. It is an opportunity to celebrate the growth of Walking Football, strengthen international friendships, promote healthy and active ageing, and continue building Australia's reputation as one of the world's leading Walking Football nations.
The journey to France has begun, and with the enthusiasm already shown by players across the country, the future of the WalkAroos has never looked brighter.
